Phase I or Basic Level schooling is the first of three levels of mandatory in-class training that every General Carpenter apprentice is required to successfully complete. Phase I is 8 full-time weeks long; classes run all day, every day from Monday through Friday and possibly certain Saturdays. Apprentices will be required to attain 60% or higher in each of the four reportable subjects in order to pass Phase I. The four reportable subjects are: Safety, Materials, & Tools; Plans, Specifications, & Codes I; Estimating, Calculations, & Layout I; and Metal Cutting & Welding.
As of November 6, 2025, the Basic Carpentry course will now require only a $100 refundable deposit to register.
This deposit will be fully refunded on the first day of class, in accordance with the Ministry of Labour’s guidelines.
If you have already paid the previous tuition fee, please don’t worry. Your payment will be refunded on the first day of class as well.
