Students will receive instruction on the layout, fabrication and setting of various types of concrete formwork. In class theory will include carpentry math, basic geometric layout (3-4-5), and industry best practices. In shop practical projects will include: power saw basics, hammering basics, measuring and marking, snap tie wall, machine base, columns with capitals and drops, gang forms, suspended slab and bridge building techniques. Various formwork systems will be utilized.

3 Ring Binder and Paper, Pencils, Calculator (Casio fx-300ms) no cell phone calculators, PPE Hard Hat (not white), Steel Toe Work Boots and Safety glasses, and Carpentry Tool Kit including: Tool Belt, Hammer (Straight Claw, 20 or 22 oz Estwing), tape measure (25 ft. with metric and imperial), Chalk Line, Dry Line, Linesman Pliers, Utility Knife, 12 inch Adjustable Wrench (10 inch wide opening will work), 3/4 inch and 7/8 inch Speed Rachet, 24 inch Level, Speed Square (or Comination Square), Cat's Paw (nail puller), Framing square
