Students will receive instruction on the layout, fabrication and setting of various types of concrete formwork.
In-class theory will include:
- Carpentry Math
- Basic Geometric Layout (3-4-5)
- Industry Best Practices.
In-shop practical projects will include:
- Power Saw Basics
- Hammering Basics
- Measuring and Marking
- Snap Tie Wall
- Machine Base
- Columns with Capitals and Drops
- Gang Forms
- Suspended Slab and Bridge Building Techniques.
Various formwork systems will be utilized.
Students will be required to lift material up to 20 Kilograms and must be willing to work at heights.
Course Delivery Format:
- IN PERSON: Seven Weeks, Full Time, Monday – Friday (7:30AM – 3:00PM)

Courses that do not meet minimum enrollment requirements will be cancelled.

Classroom Items: 3 Ring Binder and Paper, Pencils, Calculator (Casio fx-300ms). PPE: Hard Hat (not white), Work Boots, Safety glasses. Tools: Tool Belt, Hammer (Straight Claw, 20 or 22 oz Estwing), Tape Measure (25 ft. with metric AND imperial), Chalk Line, Dry Line, Linesman Pliers, Utility Knife, 12 inch Adjustable Wrench (10 inch wide opening will work), 3/4 inch and 7/8 inch Speed Rachets, 24 inch Level, Speed Square (or Combination Square), Cat's Paw (nail puller), and a Framing square

Those wishing to participate, who are not yet members of Local 27, must fill out an Application for Pre-Apprenticeship, pass a math and English Language assessment, and attend an interview with CCAT's Program Coordinator.
