This course is designed for members who have completed Advanced Carpentry, or for members who are working in the door and hardware sector and who want to improve their skills.
Course curriculum includes: interpreting door and hardware schedules, door handling and care, lock types and functions, various door installation challenges, installing exit hardware, door closers, automatic door operators, electric strikes, and magnetic lock installation.
Duration: 4 weeks; 3 evenings (online) and 4 Saturdays (in person)
Prerequisites: Completion of Advanced Carpentry or experience in door and hardware installation.
Students are required to bring hand tools on Saturdays.
This course and all associated written learning materials and examinations are available in English only. If you need translation assistance, you are welcome to bring a translator (friend or Family member, who is not registered to attend the class) to the course with you. If you have other literacy or reading challenges, you may also bring a reader to assist you. If you do not have anyone to help you with either your translation or reading needs, please contact our office as soon as possible before the course so that we can arrange assistance for you.
If minimum enrolment is not met the course will be cancelled.

Notebook, pen, calculator, pouch, hammer, tape measure, combination square, bench plane, block plane, awl, utility knife, 1/4" to 1" chisels, tap wrench and PPE
Deposit Requirements: The $100.00 course fee is a refundable deposit which will be credited back to you upon successful completion of the course unless you have exceeded the maximum allowable absence(s) permitted by your course.
Location: : Theory will be online Thursday night from 5-9pm and Practicals will take place at 420 Rowntree Dairy Rd. on Saturday
