This course meets the requirements of Ontario Regulation 297/13 made under the Occupational Health and Safety Act requiring any worker (new or existing) to have proof of completing a Basic Occupational Health and Safety Awareness course. This 4 hour course explains your rights and responsibilities on the job, as well as the responsibilities of your supervisor and employer. This course is aimed at helping workers work in a safe manner and at preventing illness or injury at work. The areas of training will include: 1) The duties and rights of the worker. 2) Duties of the employer and supervisor. 3) Roles of health and safety representatives and JHSCs. 4) The role of the MOL and other workplace parties. 5) Common workplace hazards. A record of training will be issued upon successful completion of the course.
This course and all associated written learning materials and examinations are available in English only. If you need help with translation, reading, or writing, you may ask a friend or family member (who is not registered to attend the class) to assist you. If you require translation and/or literacy support, and you do not have anyone to assist you, please contact the office at least 48 hours prior to the start of the course.

Computer/Tablet/Phone (with a working microphone and camera), Internet Access, Microsoft TEAMS (App or Web Access), and a VALID Email Address. To avoid forfeiting your seat, course deposits must be paid 72 hours prior to the start date of the course.
Deposit Requirements: Course deposits are refunded upon course completion. Refunds will NOT be issued to students who fail to attend, who exceed the maximum allowable absence(s) permitted by the course, and/or to students who are removed from the course at the discretion of the Instructor(s). Please allow 2-3 weeks for refunds to be processed.
