This course meets the requirements of Ontario Regulation 297/13 made under the Occupational Health and Safety Act requiring any worker (new or existing) to have proof of completing a basic occupational health and safety awareness course. This 4 hour course explains your rights and responsibilities on the job, as well as the responsibilities of your supervisor and employer. This course is aimed at helping workers work in a safe manner and prevents illness or injury at work. The areas of training will include: 1) The duties and rights of the worker. 2) Duties of the employer and supervisor. 3) Roles of health and safety representatives and JHSCs. 4) The role of the MOL and other workplace parties. 5) Common workplace hazards. A record of training will be given to the student on successful completion of the course.
This course and all associated written learning materials and examinations are available in English only. If you need translation assistance, you are welcome to bring a translator (friend or Family member, who is not registered to attend the class) to the course with you. If you have other literacy or reading challenges, you may also bring a reader to assist you. If you do not have anyone to help you with either your translation or reading needs, please contact our office as soon as possible before the course so that we can arrange assistance for you.
