Basic Floor Covering – Phase I

• Phase I or Basic Level schooling is the first of two levels of mandatory in-class training that every Floor Covering apprentice is required to successfully complete.  Phase I is 10 full-time weeks long; classes run all day, every day from Monday through Friday.  Apprentices will be required to attain 60% or higher in each of the four reportable subjects in order to pass Phase I.  The four reportable subjects are: Trade Calculations; Floorplans & Layout; Trade Theory; and Trade Practice.

Required Tools/Supplies: Chalk Line, Hack Saw, Hammer - 20oz, Hand Broom, Heavy duty OLFA Knife "Snap off Blades", Knee Pads, Measuring Tape - Metric and Imperial - 25', Patching Trowel "4 x 14", Pliers, Putty Knife 6", Screwdrivers - Multi-Bit, Utility Knife, Aviation Snips (tin snips), 3 Ring Binder, Paper, Calculator, Pen, Pencil, Compass, Protractor, Hard Hat (no white), Steel Toe Boots and Safety Glasses
